Decided not to do a second podcast this week as, wonderfully, other podcasters have pretty much covered my thoughts on What Kate Does and I have nothing of great entertainment to add – plus I’m spending most of the day waiting for the phone to ring (terribly dull) and can only guarantee that it would do so halfway through my podcast! Perhaps this is an altogether new kind of podcast I could come to XD
To round up a couple of points, though, which I may well mention in the next reaction podcast, depending on how exciting or not that episode is – I definitely enjoyed this episode, I find the reaction against it rather bemusing, and am glad to hear many people, on second and third watchings, came to enjoy it, or at least to get more out of it than expected.
I also didn’t pick up on the Doctor Goodspeed thing, and am torn as to whether that would always have been his name, but he would tell others who might know about DHARMA that his name was something else, or whether it signifies that whatever happened on the island is over, done with, and that to be associated with the place is no bad thing in this new world.
Also, also, the baseball Mr Temple Master had – goes with the glove that Richard took to young!Locke, no? When he asked which things belonged to him? Also, definitely agree with the comment on one of the podcasts I heard, which said that the sand in a bottle was the same as the sand in the hourglass – absolutely definitely was. Curious times, perhaps? Maybe the whole show is the aftermath of a really unfortunate baseball dispute XD
We were rewatching the Season 5 opener with Darlton commentary the other day, and I remembered them saying there how S5 was intended to be a bit of a break for Jack, because of ‘what was coming for our hero’, or something along those lines, and I thought, yes, well, the first time I heard that, I didn’t imagine I could have such a reaction to Jack as I did in this episode, which was, YAY JACK. Not since the ‘Sawyer needs glasses’ scene, I think, have I thought YAY JACK. Goodness.
